M2M is Officially Back on “September 22nd, Sunday, Twenty-five after Nine”
Fans of the popular global duo from the 90s and 2000s, M2M, are rejoicing after surprise clips surfaced showing Marion Raven and Marit Larsen singing parts of their hit song “The Day You Went Away.” These clips were posted on the newly created M2M social media pages precisely at 9:25 AM European Time (3:25 PM in Manila), matching the lyrics of their iconic song: “September 22nd, Sunday, 9:25.”
The Rise of M2M
M2M captured the hearts of teen pop lovers when they rose to fame in 1999 with their debut single “Don’t Say You Love Me,” which also became the soundtrack for the first Pokémon movie, a massive hit. The song was followed by other popular singles like “Mirror Mirror,” “Pretty Boy,” and “Everything You Do” from their best-selling debut album, Shades of Purple. This album was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, selling millions of copies worldwide.
M2M especially enjoyed huge success in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, where their tours and concerts were always sold out.
The Breakup of M2M
In 2001, M2M released their sophomore album featuring the lead single “Everything.” While the album did well in Asia, it struggled with sales and promotion in the US, leading to the duo’s disbandment in 2002.
Marion Raven’s Solo Journey: Here I Am
Following their mutual decision to part ways, Marion Raven and Marit Larsen pursued separate careers. Marion was signed to Atlantic Records—the same label M2M was under—and shifted to a pop-rock-alternative sound. She released her debut solo album Here I Am in 2005, achieving success in Norway and Asian countries. However, due to limited promotion in the US, she left Atlantic Records and signed with an independent label to re-release her album under the title Set Me Free, featuring additional tracks.
Over the past two decades, Marion has released several albums in Norway and Germany. She’s also become a prominent figure in Norway’s entertainment industry, appearing as a judge on Norwegian Idol, done successful concert tours, and working in theater plays and film dubbing, including voicing roles in the Norwegian version of Tangled.
Marit Larsen’s Solo Success: Under the Surface
Marit Larsen embraced pop-folk music and made a significant impact with her debut solo album Under the Surface in 2006. The album, led by its title track, was a huge success in Norway, selling more than 20,000 copies in less than three weeks and eventually going double platinum.
Marit continued her momentum with her sophomore album The Chase in 2008, featuring the hit single “If A Song Could Get Me You,” which topped the Norwegian charts and earned platinum certification. She has since won multiple awards, including accolades at the MTV Europe Music Awards and Norway’s prestigious Spellemannprisen.
This year, Marit released her latest album, Hun Er Min, on May 24 and is currently touring Norway.
M2M’s Reunion: It’s Official!
After nearly 22 years, Marion Raven and Marit Larsen have officially reunited as M2M. News of their reunion was confirmed by their manager, Silje Larsen Borgan, in a statement to VG.no. While the details are still under wraps, the manager urged fans to stay tuned to M2M’s social media channels for more updates.
– Is there talk of a reunion? (Google Translate)
– Yes, it is – it will be fun. I can’t reveal much more now, but stay tuned in M2M’s channels for the next time.

For fans of 90s music, the excitement is real. Could this reunion lead to new music, an album, or even a tour? The future looks bright for M2M, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store.
Personal Connection with Marit
One exciting surprise for me personally was when Marit Larsen followed me back on Instagram! We’ve exchanged some DMs, and she even asked about the best venues in the Philippines for her solo tours. Could this be a hint of an upcoming M2M tour in the Philippines? We’ll have to wait and see, but for now, let’s celebrate that M2M is back!
